What is henna?
November 11, 2008 – 3:41 amScientifically referred to as Lawsonia Inermis, henna in the west is most commonly used to dye hair. In the Middle East & Asia, the henna application has been a practice passed from generation to generation since the beginning of time. But with the new popularity of tattoos, henna and the art of mehndi is considered a safe, painless & non-permanent, alternative form of body decorating. Although henna is traditionally drawn on hands and feet, this art form has moved from its traditional boundaries to be used all over the body. Today’s henna artists create marvelous designs on arms , legs, around the belly button and even behind the neck.
